“Talk of war has reached Lakewood and Derrick is busy day and night crafting weapons and armor for his father, which keeps him from thinking of Jeslyn and how she left. When Lucy shows up at his shop, smirking, and talking about Jeslyn’s mysterious disappearance, he’s ready to slice off her head; instead, he decides to see if her claims about Jeslyn and Lucino vanishing together are true.
As Derrick and Lucy embark on a hunt to find Jeslyn and Lucino, their hatred will turn into mutual acceptance as the trail will lead them into Nomad’s land and straight into war.
DEADLY DANCE is a novelette that takes place between Book 2 & Book 3 of The Daath Chronicles”

I received this book from Curiosity Quills Press in exchange for an honest review.
If anyone was wondering how Derrick was coping and where Lucy went after attacking Avikar and Raven while they were protected by the Order? Well, this novellette will give you a good idea.
Derrick keeps himself busy crafting armor and weapons after news of war has reached Lakewood. Trying to keep his thoughts from Jeslyn and her leaving to Luna Harbour. When Lucy shows up at his shop, looking for his help in finding Jeslyn and Lucino, who have vanished.
Honestly, I always knew Lucy was awesome but this confirms it! She’s ballsy and quick witted. She’s kind of the heroine we’re used to expecting in young adult novels. She clearly cares enough for her sibiling to ask for Derrick’s help. Maybe her concern isn’t as great for Jeslyn, but then again why bring Derrick?
This novellette answers a lot of questions of what happened to the other characters from the main novel.
Lucy and Derrick adventure to Luna Harbour and find out that Jeslyn’s grandfather had been kidnapped by mercenaries of the Nomad King and set out on their own adventure to rescue the elderly man and Jeslyn and Lucino.
It’s Lucy’s quick-wit and balls of steel that keeps herself and Derrick from being captured by the Nomad King and helps them to free Jeslyn’s grandfather.
I look forward to seeing where Lucy and Derrick go next, especially as Lucy did try to kill Derrick a couple of times now.
Will be cross posted at Good Reads.
