“Monsters exist. Not in closets or under the bed, but within each of us. And sometimes . . . they win.
Kidnapped. Confused. Afraid.
Ophelia wakes up to find herself an unwilling pawn in a plot for revenge.
Pain. Blood. Loyalty.
These things bind Sawyer to a promise he struggles to keep.
Sawyer doesn’t want to hurt Ophelia. Ophelia doesn’t want to be hurt. But somethings are unavoidable. What happens when trust is broken? What happens when fear and love collide?
Hearts get broken and lives get shattered when the Sins of the Father are brought to bear.”
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
While at a party, a knight in shining armor comes to Ophelia’s rescue, taking her away from a would be bad situation with a party going frat boy. Only to wake up finding herself kidnapped by her knight in not so shiny armor. Sawyer doesn’t want to hurt Ophelia, but he is trying to help his friend in hopes of gaining some peace of mind. Sawyer and his friend Frank soon find out that kidnapping doesn’t exact revenge or get them the acknowledgement or monetary gains they so desire.
This was a beautifully woven tale of love, loyalty, friendship, pain and losses so great that they bind people to one another. I read it in one entire sitting. This was not a “put it down” kind of book, at all.
Sawyer is a classic good guy who has been handed a long list of crap. He wants to be good, but he also wants to help his friend who have an immense connection.
Ophelia doesn’t give off this air that she’s at all a rich kid, she’s more quiet and unassuming. She likes a quiet night with a good book. My kind of night too!
Now with kidnapping books, there is always a question of whether it’s going to be Stockholm Syndrome-y and this book manages to avoid that beautifully. This is possibly the most viable, fall-in-love while being kidnapped scenario ever! No creepiness involved!
If you are looking for strong characters that you fall in love with and a beautiful story, some romance and of course betrayal, this is a great book and I definitely recommend it!
Jamie Canosa is a full time author of YA literature, which she absolutely loves. When she’s not writing or spending time with her family, she can usually be found with her nose in a book. She currently resides in Ravena, NY with her wonderful husband and three crazy kids . . . plus the cats, the bird and the rabbit.
