About the Book

In a realm of elves, ogres and white witches, where danger is ever-present, Princess Helena Lichtenberg lost her parents at a young age. Raised by her uncle and aunt, Helena values family above all else. Now, as decreed by tradition, it is time to select a mate.

HER ALPHA

Enormous, scarred and scary, Black Ridge Wolf Pack leader Aldric Forst has never drawn the eye of any Omega. Why would he? But, on this, the night of what he swears is his last selection celebration, everything is different. One of those most beautiful, magical and powerful women, the niece of the king and queen themselves, wants him. And Aldric has never wanted anything more in return. No force—no matter how dark, no matter how powerful—will take Helena from him.

Excerpt

Princess Helena took that moment to turn toward him again. Instantly, his heart raced, his palms became sweaty, and a nervous excitement rolled around in his stomach, which he wasn’t entirely sure he liked. After all, he was a feared warrior, people looked to him for guidance and strength, and now he felt like he was going to pass out because a gorgeous woman was smiling at him with such joy.

As Amalia spoke to Helena, the princess’s small omega stone on her forehead glowed, and it was impossible to miss the waves of happiness coming from her.

“Looks like the princess is happy you agreed to dance with her, brother.” Godric looked about ready to burst with excitement. “Should I call home and have the rest of our party get on the road?”

“No, not yet, Godric. Let’s see how the evening goes first. Then we can call in reinforcements.” Aldric didn’t want to get ahead of himself. He refused to be let down again. “What do you think Lady Amalia meant by she’d waited years?”

“I have no idea, but I do know the only way you’re going to find out is by asking the princess herself. Ready to waltz, brother?”

“At least all mother’s lessons are about to come in handy. What if she expects our normal life to be like this?” Aldric panicked.

“Okay, now you’re just looking for problems that aren’t even here yet. Get out there and sweep that princess off her feet with the alpha you are. Wait until I tell Cassandra she was right yet again.” Godric had a look of absolute glee at the prospect of making that call back to the pack.

“Yeah, well, if Cassandra was right about this, brother, then she also predicted that I would have to fight for my omega.”

Godric turned to face Aldric and all humor fled from his expression. “If we have to fight for your omega, then it’ll damn well be one we win, I can assure you of that. If this night goes well, I’ll be calling in more warriors as well. They will be here before the sun rises.” Both Theron and Tofa nodded in agreement, even if Theron continued to tap away on his tablet.

“We shall see, Godric. Let’s hope I don’t step on her foot. Then it may be the royal guard we need to fight.” Aldric laughed as he, Godric, Theron, and Tofa stood and made their way across the ballroom to stand in front of King Leonidas, Queen Alexandra, and Princess Helena.

Princess Helena was simply stunning; her emerald green eyes beamed with happiness as he approached. Aldric had never felt this level of immediate attraction before in his lifetime. Helena’s curly blonde hair was pulled away from her face, showcasing her royal tattoo and tiny vines twisting down her slender neck to her collarbone. Her smile lit up everyone and everything around her and her green eyes shone with happiness.

Aldric, Godric, Theron, and Tofa stood before the king and queen, bowing respectfully and waiting for King Leonidas to speak. The entire time, Aldric hoped like hell he didn’t screw this up.

The room had grown strangely quiet.

FOR MONEY OR LOVE by Margo Hoornstra
He’s a mega-millionaire who covets wealth
She’s a computer genius who covets life

TAKE A CHANCE ON ME by M.J. Schiller
She’s a dealer on a losing streak with love.
He’s a cop who will go all in to save her from the mob.
Can she take a chance on him when this could be her final wager?

Part of the All in For Love Box Set!

Callista Brenner refuses to let go of her past. She had her entire life figured out…except, maybe that was only in her mind. Being stood up for her own wedding should be a clue. Regardless, she’s determined to fix this. She just needs a plan and if there’s one thing she’s good at, it’s planning. Her accolades as one of Georgia’s top premiere event planners if proof of that. It doesn’t matter that she’s a whirlwind of clumsy chaos. All she has to do is stay away from the gorgeously irritating Jayce Gilmore and her wedding will be back on track. That’s exactly what she wants. Right? She loves her fiancé. She wants to marry him and start a family. He’s her everything. Or is he?

Jayce Gilmore has somehow let himself be bamboozled. One minute he was enjoying his quiet existence in his home in the outskirts of Victory, NY and the next he was facing his best friend’s wife and promising to be the best man at their wedding, which he also agreed to host at his resort & casino, La Bonne Chance. The introvert in him is questioning his sanity. As if that wasn’t bad enough, his partner has decided he’s taking a three-month hiatus, leaving the business solely in Jayce’s hands. Just when he’s ready to curl into a ball and refuse to leave his room, a chance encounter at an airport has him realizing some things are worth venturing out of your comfort zone for.

Neither of them could have guessed that Callista’s past would decide it wants to be her future and will stop at nothing to make that a reality. Could she accept that maybe her carefully laid plans weren’t as careful as she thought? Will Jayce be able to show her that he’s worth a chance and, together, their oddities can be perfect?

Cali

I nibble on my thumbnail as I watch the other travelers, clad in the makings of a summer vacation t-shirts and shorts, moving to and fro. Hot pink backpacks and black rolling cases bob and weave in a sea of commuters. Our flight is on the second call of now boarding all passengers and Cameron has yet to show up or answer my calls. Scanning the crowd, I search for his clean-cut, freshly shaved face, but come up empty. He’s still not here. A roiling ball of dread settles into the pit of my stomach. Something must have happened to him. It’s the only explanation I can think of that would lead to him not being here.

A toddler wobbles past me, blonde pigtails bouncing as plump legs struggling to support the carefree attempt to run, and stepping aside, I smile down at her as she chants “uh-oh.” How freaking cute is that? I bet she gets into all sorts of shenanigans. A woman, with identical blonde curls and green eyes, rushes after her and scoops her up before giggling ensues. She plants a smacking kiss on the child’s chubby cheeks before pointing and encouraging the child to say “da-da.” A smiling man with unnaturally white teeth approaches with his arms stretched out and the child squeals and squirms as she nearly jumps from the woman’s arms. You can’t witness such a scene and not smile. Two more years and that’ll be me with my own family—number three on my list of priorities. My phone vibrates, startling me out of staring at the trio. Relief envelops me like a warm blanket when I see the picture of Cameron on the screen.

“Where are you? They’re boarding everyone now. I’ll go ahead and let them know we’ll make it,” I answer, my phone cradled between my shoulder and ear.

“I’m not coming,” he says.

I pause in making my way to the attendant station. Surely, I heard him wrong.

“Hang on a sec, let me ask them how long we have before they can no longer wait. If you’re here already it shouldn’t be a problem. You’ll need to hurry. Like, sprint through the airport or maybe get one of those guys on the carts to give you a ride somehow.”

The attendant flashes a smile at me and holds her hand out for my boarding pass. Her two front teeth are chipped and it makes me think of the time Cameron chipped his tooth while playing basketball last year. He got it fixed immediately, so I wonder why she’s chosen to leave hers like that. I move to give her the passes, but hear Cameron speaking again.

“Cali, you’re not listening. I’m not there. I’m not coming either.”

Pulling my boarding pass away from the chipped tooth attendant, I force a smile and step away for privacy. “What are you talking about, Cameron? I’m here waiting for you.” As if he doesn’t know that. He helped me load our luggage into the car before I left this morning. Is this some sick joke he’s pulling right now?

“Didn’t you hear me, Cali? I said I’m not coming,” Cameron repeats, his voice harsh and grating.

I stare numbly at the ‘now boarding’ screen above the attendant. I heard him the first two times. It makes as much sense now as it did then—none.

“I don’t understand. You can’t not come, we’re getting married. I can see if they’ll schedule us for a different flight. I’m sure it’s not too late. We’re getting there early enough one day won’t really matter,” I tell him.

He lets out an exasperated sigh. He’s annoyed? We’re four weeks away from our wedding and I’m at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, sans fiancé. I woke up at some ungodly hour, battled an hour and a half of bumper to bumper traffic to get here and get us both checked in two hours early, lugged all our suitcases—overweight, I might add—only for him to call when it’s time to board the flight to New York and tell me he’s not coming. Yet, he’s the one who’s annoyed?

“I don’t know what else to say, Cali. I’m trying to do right by you here. We both knew this wouldn’t end well. This was a mistake. A huge mistake and you’re only making it harder. I can’t do this right now. For once, let something go.”

I don’t even know how to respond to that. A mistake? What part of this is the mistake? One of the biggest occasions in my life—number one on the list—is a huge mistake for him? Try as I might, I can no longer speak. ‘We’ didn’t know this wouldn’t end in anything but a marriage. ‘Do right by me?’ How is standing me up for our wedding doing right by me? I didn’t ask to marry myself. I didn’t insist on us having a short engagement or me moving in with him.

I watch as the attendant lifts a phone to her mouth and smiles. A few seconds later I hear her disembodied voice over the PA system.

“This serves as a final boarding call for Delta Flight 1762 with service to Buffalo New York. All ticketed and confirmed passengers should report to Gate C23 for immediate departure.”

“Look, I can hear them in the background. You shouldn’t be at the airport alone. Go back to your parents’ place and we’ll talk more about this later. I have to get back to work,” Cameron says.

My parents’ place? He’s kicking me out? And why is he at work? We’re supposed to be leaving. Like, right now! I open my mouth to speak, not entirely sure what I’ll say, but I’m cut off by someone roughly bumping my shoulder. Silently, I watch as my phone crashes to the ground and bounces once before landing, screen up. It didn’t shatter, but the screen is dark. Cameron probably thinks I hung up on him. It’s much less than he deserves at this point.

“Sorry, didn’t see you there.”

Story of my freaking life. Destined to fade into the background where no one sees me. Number two on the list—stand out more. This guy’s apology definitely didn’t sound sincere. I look up to see a startling shade of blue staring down at me. Cold. I don’t like it. Blue is my favorite color, but I like warm blues. Blues that make you think of a tropical oasis. Definitely not blue like this stranger’s eyes. This shade of blue makes me anxious and . . . sad? Scared? Why the hell am I thinking about shades of blue when my life has just ended? Stupid stranger not looking where he’s going. He’s a jerk, like all men in the universe.

“I’ll get it,” he declares, grabbing my phone from the floor.

Before I can tell him to leave me alone, I hear the attendant speaking again.

“Ms. Brenner?” she pauses and looks expectantly at the bearded man standing next to me.

“Gilmore,” he supplies as he takes a step away from her.

We both turn to give her our attention, although I really don’t want to. I want to stand here and wallow in my misery. I want to reach out and pull this guy’s thick beard, cause him a little pain so I don’t suffer alone. What the hell does Cameron mean by ‘I can’t do this right now’? Was I just . . . dumped? Is Cameron breaking up with me or does he just not want to marry me? Is there really a difference at this point in our relationship? Can we really stay together if he basically rescinds his proposal?

I’m a cliché of epic proportions. I want the fairytale wedding with a princess gown and a horse-drawn carriage. I want a wedding that will resemble a forest at dusk with stars twinkling in the sky and a sensual melody playing in the background. I stop my train of thoughts when the attendant speaks again.

“We need you to board now if this is your flight. We really need to close the gate now.”

“Our apologies for being late,” Mr. Gilmore grumbles before turning to me and gesturing toward the gate. “After you.”

I’m slightly pleased his apology to her seemed even less sincere. There was also much more annoyance in his voice. I think. Plus, I wasn’t even late. I was very much so on time. I was where I was supposed to be and checked in like I should have. Just . . . not with whom I’m supposed to be with. Tears well in my eyes fall quicker than I can blink them away. The attendant clears her throat nervously and a horrified look crosses Mr. Gilmore’s face.

“Ma’am, we really need to close the gate now,” chipped tooth says.

I’m not only crying, but I’ve given them no response this entire time and I’m holding up the flight. Cameron and I were supposed to be going on this trip to New York as a vacation—and pseudo-honeymoon since it came before the ceremony, and end it with our wedding. Except now, he’s not here and he’s not coming.

“Allergies,” I lie with a forced smile. I hand over my boarding pass and soon enough, I’m on my way to La Bonne Chance Casino Resort, solo.

About the Book

Clara Pendleton is a prisoner in her home. Always searching for new places to hide from her uncle, whose drunken attention terrifies and confuses her, she finds a tiny clearing in the back of the property near a disintegrating section of the ivy-covered wall that surrounds the estate.

Gaven Bridge has been sent to Clearwater to live with his Uncle Daniel. Never fitting in, he doesn’t believe he’ll ever meet anyone who understands him. But when he goes out for a walk in the woods, he happens upon a young lady sleeping soundly on a patch of moss.

A deep bond is fostered between them, helping Clara find the courage to change her life. When she finally decides to climb over the ivy wall and out into the world, there is no going back. Will Clara escape her horrible past, or will it destroy the love she and Gaven share?

Excerpt

Clara trembled as she climbed precariously over the crumbling stone wall.

Gaven held her hand, helping her over, and as she made the last step, she stumbled, falling forward against his chest. His warmth was unmistakable, the energy that flowed between them purely magnetic; she couldn’t resist him and she wasn’t sure why.

He was older than her, and Tammy would’ve been horrified to see the way Clara pressed her small hands against his narrow chest, staring into his chocolate brown eyes. She saw things in his eyes she’d never seen before—a world she couldn’t remember, pain that was just as horrific as her own.

He was a kindred spirit.

For a long moment, she stared into his eyes, and he stared back. She was so close she could’ve kissed his tantalizing, full lips. Instead, she just froze.

“You don’t have to worry about me,” he finally said. “I won’t take advantage of you.”

“Why?” Catching herself, she stammered, “I m-m-mean, w-w-what do you mean?”

“I’m not like other men. I’m all cerebral. Sex means nothing to me.”

She didn’t know why she’d said it, but the words tumbled from her lips, “I’m a virgin.” Shocked at her admission to this near-stranger, she clapped a hand over her mouth.

“Of course you are,” he said, seemingly unaffected. “You’ve never left this place before. But—” He remained silent for a long moment. Then he took her hand and began leading her along the narrow path through the woods. “Something happened to you, I can see it. You’ve never had sexual intercourse, but something has happened to you, and you don’t want to talk about it. You hide it.”

“Why do you say it like that?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, in the movies and in books, people just say sex. You talk about it like…like a textbook.”

He chuckled. “I told you, I’m cerebral. My intellect is more important to me. You know that already. You can feel it.”

“Yes, that’s true. I like it.”

He forged ahead, holding her behind him until he cleared a branch out of the way. The sun shone down, dancing over bright green foliage, brightening the forest floor.

“I don’t know why we’ve met, but I’m glad we did. You came right to me,” Clara said. “I opened my eyes and there you were. How interesting. Like in a book.”

“You read a lot, like me.”

“Yes, I love to read. One thing I’ll say for Uncle Harris, he’s always kept books in the house. The place has been in the family for several generations, and every generation added books to the library upstairs. My cousin, Tammy, and I read a lot.”

“There’s so much more to your story, Clara. I’m waiting to hear it.”

The rest of the path was clear, and they walked hand in hand for a while until Gaven complained his hands were sweaty. He seemed uncomfortable with physical contact, but at the same time, he seemed to want her near him; a fascinating juxtaposition that did not escape her.

The most mind-boggling thing was that she barely knew this man, yet he’d coaxed her away from her uncle’s property. After only two lengthy conversations, Gaven had managed to talk her into climbing over the wall and out of her prison.

She wondered if he knew how huge this was.

If he didn’t realize it, he would soon.

About the Book

EVERYTHING SHE NEEDED…

Looking to change her life, Corey Cooper moves across the country to a remote town in Colorado to become the new guidance counselor at St. Leasing, a prestigious all boys prep school. But soon she learns her attraction to the gorgeous head coach, Dominic Hardy, is more than the usual chemistry, and that her students are more than the typical randy teenage boys.

WAS WRITTEN IN HIS SOUL

Dominic Hardy loves his life at St. Leasing. As head coach, he’s fulfilled by his career, and in the small Colorado town outside the school’s gates, he has all the entertainment a man could desire. No complications, no attachments, life was good. Then Corey Cooper comes to St. Leasing and Dominic’s instincts kick in – she is his, and that’s for life. Throw in a troubled teen, a tyrannical parent, and a mysterious disappearance, and all of a sudden everything at St. Leasing has become a matter of life or death for his kind.

Excerpt

His truck pulled in behind her SUV in the driveway and he was out of his vehicle opening her car door before she’d even turned off her engine. Eager, wasn’t he? He held his arm out, and she smiled as she hooked her hand around his large bicep. “How chivalrous Coach Hardy.”

“I try.”

When they reached the front porch she turned toward him with what she hoped was her sultriest grin, kind of innocent with a hint of fire. “Thanks for everything today, Dominic. The directions. The drinks. The companionship. I’m so glad that you were the first person I met here.” He hadn’t seemed to like the word friend when she’d used it back at the bar, and she’d bet the word companionship was setting his teeth on edge right about now.

“Seems like I was at the right place at the right time. It was a pleasure meeting you Corey Cooper.” He leaned in with his whole body but went for her cheek instead of her lips.

“Mmmm, you smell amazing.” She all but purred. She was playing the game, but in truth, he really did smell fantastic. “What kind of cologne are you wearing?”

He moved away a fraction of an inch and kissed her other cheek softly. “I’m not wearing any cologne. But I’m glad you think I smell good considering I didn’t have time to shower after practice.”

She laughed, “Really? You smell mouthwatering like all my favorite scents rolled into one. I noticed it earlier today. I smelled you before you even said a word to me.” And she had, it was like he had filled the air before she’d known he was behind her.

His body was close to hers, but still not touching. Corey knew what his game was, leaving it up to her, letting her make the first move. Did he think he was clever? A visionary? And hardly the first guy to use that tactic. But okay Dominic Hardy, you win this one. When he went to pull away again, she grabbed his shirt in her hands and fused their mouths together. She felt herself immediately melt into him. The kiss was the most perfect first kiss she’d ever had.

His lips were soft but demanding and when he fisted his hands in her hair, tugging lightly, she gave in. She opened for him and let his tongue invade her mouth. God this was amazing. A perfect kiss mixed with his yummy scent, she could hardly stand it. Yeah, life at St. Leasing was well on its way to wonderful.

Excerpt

Was someone watching Ben, and sending him threatening messages? Honestly, it didn’t surprise her. Only God knew how many enemies the man must have had.

With her heart pounding and hands shaking she started opening the smaller envelopes. The first one gripped her, it had a drawing of Ben in his office at work. Sitting on his desk in a very seductive manner was an image of his busty secretary blowing kisses at him.

The next letter, however, brought home the seriousness of the situation to her as she read it. It was written in dark red ink and stated:

You shouldn’t have so much sugar in your coffee, and your wife should wear the new lipstick she bought last week. It will match that dress she’s wearing perfectly.

Taylor should take better care of her cat, and Wade needs better lighting in his room. It would be a shame for him to leave again when he’s only just returned.

It was only after she read that that realization truly dawned on her and tore at her insides.

Regina gasped. This person wasn’t just watching Ben. It was all of them. They were watching all of them, and this note was recent. As in a few days ago recent. Wade had only been home since Monday, and she bought that lipstick last week.

Cold terror gripped her in its icy embrace, and she could do nothing but stand there and stare at the note, paralyzed with fright. Someone was watching them, and watching so closely that they knew how much sugar Ben put in his coffee.

God!

Were they watching her now? Could they see her?

She whirled around and looked at the large casement window behind her. Maybe they could see her in here. Maybe they had cameras set up inside the house.

She looked back to the note to read it again, and noticed how the letters on some of the words smudged out. That was when it occurred to her that it wasn’t written in red ink.

It was…blood!

About the Book

The job should have been easy—patrol a swank beach that serves as a backyard for Maui’s rich, kick out the riffraff, and get a tan in the process. But rent-a-cop Samantha Winters didn’t anticipate a deliciously grumpy cop, Sergeant Grady Roark, who comes down to the beach to bust her chops and instead leaves her breathless…and wondering why the one man who could help her seems determined to thwart her at every turn.

Grady is keeping secrets from Sam that have him walking the line between attraction and duty. But when Sam becomes the target of a shadowy organization, Grady will have to choose between the law and the temptation of a woman who has him breaking every rule he’s ever known.

The job should have been easy, but when the bullets start flying, Sam learns nothing is as easy as it seems when you’re a Gun for Hire.

Excerpt

The sunlight was intense after a half hour in that gloomy space, but I squinted hard and kept moving toward a narrow set of steps down to the parking lot. Grady walked a few paces behind me, and if he heard the crinkle of paper as I moved, he elected not to say anything.

Grady hit the remote to his truck and grabbed for the passenger side door, his hand light on my elbow as he helped me up. Paper crackled as my butt hit the seat and Grady’s eyes narrowed. Without a word, he slammed my door and went around to the driver’s side, climbing up into the cab and stabbing the keys into the ignition.

“So, I—” I hesitated as I shifted in my seat and my movement was accompanied by the distinct sound of cardboard bending.

“No,” Grady muttered, and clicked on the radio. “No talking.”

“But—”

“Shh.” Grady put a finger to his lips, his eyes still on the road. “Any minute you’re going to tell me about the felony crime you just committed. And then I’m going to have to deal with the fact that I was an accessory to a felony crime.”

“Umm, yeah.” I reached around to the back of my pants and eased the file folder up from my waistband, working it out slowly so as to not lose anything as Grady headed up the hillside toward his house. As I brought it around to look at it, the red block letters damning me to years of incarceration should I get caught, a muscle ticked in Grady’s jaw.

“You stole classified documents.” He shook his head from side to side.

I looked up at Grady and then down at the mangled file with the red Top Secret heading. I took a corner of the front sheet and ripped across the width of the page, separating the words “Top Secret” from the rest of the paper.

“They’re declassified now.” I crumpled up the classification and shoved it in my pocket.

Grady sighed.

I shrugged and opened the file.

Interview

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?

I’m from Oregon and I’m a mother of two little kids. I work full time and write in my spare time (HA, as if there were such a thing, right?) I started writing when I was very young, but it took me a long time to finally get to a place of finishing a novel. My first novel was pretty terrible, but my second was where I finally had some success. Gun for Hire just came out so effortlessly in that first draft…and then the hard work began.

What inspired you to write?

I had just always made up stories in my head. I talked to myself in the mirror extensively as a kid and I was always day dreaming, head in the clouds. I almost feel like I didn’t have a choice – these stories had to go somewhere!

What inspired your novel?

My sister and I were on Secret Beach in Maui when I first witnessed the real Sam. The first chapter in my book pretty much describes exactly how it was that day. And when I saw the real Sam I wondered what motivated her? What would cause a person to go to a job that was obviously pretty terrible day in and day out? It struck me that something was driving her and I just had to dream up what it might be.

What is the genre?

Romantic suspense, but there’s a lot of humor in it and it’s as much about Samantha’s relationship with herself as it is about her relationship with Grady. Though there’s plenty of Grady in there as well.

What draws you to this genre?

I have always loved action books and I’ve said this before but, all action books have a romance in there somewhere. All people – men and women – love a good love story. So this is the perfect combination of what I enjoy reading.

How did you develop your plot and your characters?

I wish I could say I had some well-organized method of plotting, but I’m a pantser, much more than I wish to be. My first draft just flew out of me and then the plot became much more refined with each draft. The characters just came to me for the most part, though my villains were a bit more thought out – I wanted them to be complex and three dimensional and that took some forethought. I wanted them to be fundamentally rational and driven by rational needs.

What inspired your protagonist?

Samantha is part the woman I saw on the beach that day and part my sister. My sister has a larger than life personality and more grit than I can fully express here. For her, no never means no – that’s just your starting point. She’s always been able to talk or charm her way through any situation and even when you’re giving her more than you intended, you’re just glad to be in her orbit. I wanted Sam to have my sister’s charisma and strength.

What inspired your antagonist?

I have multiple antagonists in this book! I wasn’t inspired by any particular person. It was just really important to me that my ‘bad guys’ not be fully bad. I wanted them to be rational and motivated by things that might motivate anyone. I guess that’s part of my worldview that no one is ever totally bad, nor is anyone totally good. Nuanced villains are much more interesting, in my view.

What was the hardest part to write in the book?

I really disliked writing anything where Sam’s nieces are upset, because those girls are based on my own nieces. And yet, their influence is a large part of why Sam is forced to change, so…as a writer, you have to write what the story tells you to write.

What was your favourite part of your book to write?

I loved writing the scenes between Samantha and her sister, Josie. There is so much there that is a throwback to my sister and my relationship. I also loved writing Josie’s scenes with Kai because I’m madly in love with the person I invented in Kai!

Are you a full time or a part time writer? If part time, what do you do besides write?

I work full time, so unfortunately, I can only write part time. I dream all the time about quitting my job and writing but it’s just not in the cards yet. Someday!

What are you currently reading?

I am about halfway through Stanalei Fletcher’s Breaking the Honor Code – she has created this incredible universe, and it’s a great romantic suspense book.

Who would you say are your favourite authors?

I love Sandra Brown, and Janet Evanovich makes me laugh out loud. Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Jennifer Cruisie are my absolute favorites.

How about your favourite books? What would be your top 5?

I enjoy a lot of different genres, but given that we’re talking romance, I’ll give you my top five for romance (note that this also makes my job a lot easier by limiting it to just one genre!)

Bet Me by Jennifer Cruisie. This is the best romance novel I’ve ever read.
Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She is so clever and the chemistry between her characters is undeniable.
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This is the best new romance I’ve read and the dialogue between her characters can’t be beat.
Envy by Sandra Brown. I dream of someday writing a romantic suspense this good.
Cry No More by Linda Howard. I dare you not to cry at this book. I just dare you.

What are your future projects, if any?

I’m working on a sequel to Gun for Hire, Josie and Kai’s story. These two are starting from a place of intense chemistry and the challenge I face is to keep that going!

What is your preferred method for readers to get in touch with you and your books?

I would love for readers to get in touch with me! Find me at www.jjmontgomery.com, on Instagram (my favorite!) at www.instagram.com/jmontgomerywrites or Facebook www.facebook.com/authorjjmontgomery, a platform that still confounds me every time I log on. I also highly recommend checking out some new authors at www.17scribes.com — I’m on there, too!

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

Write because you love to write. If you do it for the money or any other reason, you’ll be disappointed. But if you do it because you love it, you’re passionate about it and you like belonging to a community of people who feel the same way, you’ll never be disappointed.

About the Book

She’s a wildcat in bed and she’s driving me insane!
Ever since that first night I can’t get enough of Rahyne Andrews.
Her kisses, her body, her moans, drive me crazy. I can’t seem to say no to her.
My only problem is, that she doesn’t seem to be interested in more than my body.
And I’m not about to have my control taken away from me.
She either bends to my will, or I’m walking.

Grayson Carter is everything I ever dreamed of and more.
He’s built like a rock and knows how to satisfy my every need.
But the last thing I want is to have another failed relationship.
Especially, when it involves a member of the Hell’s Lovers.
I’m the one in control, I’m always in control…
So why is it that Grayson Carter is the only man who has ever made me beg for more.

Excerpt

It was late when I entered my apartment. I sank down on the couch and stared out into the city. I lived in a high rise in downtown L.A., it offered a good view and it was near the club, I also owned the building. I had a few investments, mostly in stocks, so I did well for myself. I didn’t really have any family or anyone I truly cared about, except for Wolf and most recently, Scarlett. I used to do security for the military, and after retiring, Wolf gave me a place to stay and opened his doors for me. I was glad to have someone like Wolf. He’d been a good friend throughout the years. When he took over as President, he immediately named me VP, and it’s been that way for the last five years. The brotherhood was my refuge and although we didn’t voice it, we were a pretty tight knit family.

I stood up and went to grab a beer. I headed down the hall to my bedroom, where an empty bed awaited me. Usually it didn’t bother me, but lately I’d been yearning for a warm body to press up against. Specifically, a voluptuous blonde, with eyes the color of emeralds. My cock stirred and I sighed as I took a swig of my beer and sat at the edge of the bed.

Images of Rahyne spread out on my mattress kept flooding through my mind and they had been non-stop lately. It didn’t matter where I was or who I was with, I couldn’t get the temptress out of my head. It was starting to worry me.

I never even thought of settling down. I lived my life peacefully, went where I wanted, fucked who I wanted, and didn’t give a shit about anything. But with Rahyne…fuck, I thought my urgency to have her was just an infatuation-something that would go away in a matter of weeks. Six months later, and my body still craved hers, more now than ever before. Running my hands through my hair I fought my desire to go looking for her and I gulped down my beer.

Lying back on the bed I let her image envelop me and I pulled out my shaft-hard as a rock as usual-and stroked myself, remembering the sound of her sweet whispers, and the moans and whimpers I heard on an almost daily basis. I groaned, imagining the wonderful feeling of her tight pussy hugging my swollen member. Remembering the way she shouted my name, and how her body gripped me, made me jerk off harder. Knowing I could manipulate her body to such extremes had me grunting my release as streams of white fluid leapt out and landed on my stomach. I breathed out and splayed my arms on the mattress. Closing my eyes, I imagined her by my side, and the only thought that came to my mind, before I drifted off, was that I was going to make her mine.

About the Author

My name is Crimson Syn, not really, but what fun is it to use my real name. Instead I’ll use my inner goddess’ name, it’s much more fun that way. I grew up in New York City where I had a wonderful education, loving parents and awesome friends. What more could a girl ask for?

I started writing at the age of sixteen. The first romance I read was Stephanie Laurens’ Devil’s Bride. Since then I have been influenced by dozens of flourishing romance authors and even more dashing and daring rogues. I must say it, but Fifty Shades was not my first erotic romance, nor did it influence me to start writing them. If you’ve never read Mary Balogh, Elizabeth Hoyt, Lisa Kleypas, Bertrice Small or A.N. Roquelaure’s Sleeping Beauty trilogy, then you’re missing out. Those were my sweet introductions to erotic romance, and boy were they hot.

So here I am, after reading so many wonderful stories, I have too many sinful tales of my own not to share. I like my alphas rough and possessive, and I have no shame in saying it or writing it. I had delightfully wicked teachers growing up, their books took me to new worlds and brought me new loves. So, I want to do the same for you. I want to indulge my readers in those steamy reads that will send them into the arms of dangerous alphas and deliciously sexy rogues, without leaving the confines of their nice warm bed. If I am able to entice your inner goddesses, then I have done my job and I am satisfied.

Graham Tate-Fuller needs a wife. Not just any wife. One who is young enough to take on his education mission to the African continent and not ask too many questions about his past. Lisbette Caldwell is just seventeen, a young woman who isn’t ready to give up her tomboy ways. She dreams of playing football and becoming a teacher just like her father. Through a series of circumstances beyond her control, Lisbette marries Graham and embarks on an adventure in Eyubea, a small independent township in southern Africa which managed to escape the colonial rule that overtook many other African nations.
There Lisbette settles into her new life as an assistant teacher to a small group of young girls who will have no choice but to become wives and mothers. It’s a simple enough task that will turn into a fight for their lives as Graham’s past catches up to them and Lisbette faces the dark side of marriage in a land not her own.
Set in the early 1900’s, Lisbette is forced to take a stand for herself and her Eyubea Girls against stacked odds, even if it means losing the life she’s come to love. With the help of new friends and a will to carve out her own place in the world, she searches for a way to live life on her own terms in a place she will come to call home.

my-review

I received this eBook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great historical tale. I absolutely adore heroines who stand up for everything they believe in, customs and traditions be damned. Lisbette is definitely a young woman to look up to, despite all the odds she faced. Her father raised her to be independent, which was unusual for the early 1900’s. Especially as it was a woman’s duty after school to marry and settle down immediately. But she really wanted to be a teacher like her father and a football (soccer) player.

When family demons haunt Lisbette’s family, she is forced to seek out marriage to a stranger and move across the world to an independent South African town to teach young girls for a year before they are to marry.

Her husband Graham, however, is a real piece of work. He is the reason there is a saying “old habits die hard.” Although I am pretty sure that Graham, when he married Lisbette, was not expecting her to be like she was. He clearly expected a woman he could force and shape into a subservient woman.
Nor do I think that the township was expecting Lisbette either. She fought hard for her students and break the tradition of the girls marrying young. To give them something more in their lives.

There is some sexual content and a small bit of violence but I would recommend it to a mature teenager as well as adults. Definitely an enjoyable read I will visit again.

Palessa started reading her first romance novel, at the age of 11. Then she got introduced to V.C. Andrews, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Anne Rice and many more notable contemporary authors as well as some of the classics. It was during her teenage years that she started writing. First, it was in her diaries, then she started creating characters, stories about romance, the supernatural and much more.

It would take almost 20 years, a radical move from the city she grew up in, Miami, FL back to her Jamaican birthplace, and a chance Facebook meeting with New York Times, USA Today bestselling author Sable Hunter (http://amzn.to/1OzcNA6) to start the juices flowing again.
After some fits and starts, the Baxter Family Saga was born. Unchained Hearts is Palessa’s first published fiction book with Beau Coup Publishing. She is currently an author of Contemporary, Historical, and Sports Fiction series with more to come.
In 2016, she became a full-fledged independent author. Palessa currently lives in the mountains of Jamaica with her crazy, cracker-munching-mutt Ivy, a thieving cat named Kushi, chickens, goats and a farm, primarily managed by agribusiness partner, also known as Dad.

Excerpt

There was just something about him that makes my insides flip around. He makes me smile finally. I haven’t smiled in a very long time. And he makes me feel safe when I am with him. He makes me feel things I have never felt before.

I could lose myself in his eyes and not even realize the time lost. They were so big and beautiful. The glowing bright green color was magical, mythical even. The slightest touch of his hand sent the most powerful surge of electricity through my body. He made me want him in ways I have never wanted anyone before. He makes my breath catch and causes my knees to go weak with just a look or a simple touch.

I laid there thinking of the things I wanted to do to him until he was standing in front of me. Odin walked over to the bed and pulled me up to stand in front of him. He aggressively pulled my shirt off revealing my black and red lace bra once more. He unbuttoned my pants letting them fall to my feet. He pulled his shirt off letting me gaze at his ripped chest and a gasp of excitement slipped from me when my eyes landed on the particular spot where those v things were.

Stepping out of my jeans I ran my fingers across his chest feeling his toned muscles until I reached his back. I couldn’t help myself and dug my nails into the flesh of his back just enough to show him the hunger I had for him. His breath quickened and he threw me back onto the bed. I opened my legs up to him as he climbed on top of me. I invited him to get closer to me than anyone else ever has. Heat radiated from the both of us and traces of tingles lingered in the places on my body that he touched.

His chest was firm and smooth and ripped in all the right places. I traced my fingers down each one of his abs until the landed on the rim of his jeans. I grabbed them and pulled on them bringing him closer to me. I wanted him. I needed him. My hunger only grew until I just about couldn’t stand it anymore.

He ran his fingers across the bottom of my stomach causing a small tickle and a giggle left my throat. He pulled away and stared at me for a moment before saying, “You are more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, lamia mea.”
