literally. All his troubles start with a stone and after that he will
be losing everything he’s ever loved. Faced with clinging on to what
little humanity he has, he will lose it many times before reaching

come back to him. They call him the Ancient One, others simply refer
to him as the Father of Werewolves, but we know him by his name,
Romasanta. Many battles will be fought before he gets closer to his
goals, but will he be ready to finish what was asked of him at the
very beginning of his horrible fate. Will he be able to return the
Eye of Gaea and free the love of his life from the laurel tree in the
Black Forest?

The Oracle
The Cedric Series Book 3

Released Sept 1st

With Angeline back in Cedric’s arms and the Eye of Gaea in Romasanta’s
grip, the next step in their journey begins. All eyes are set on Mt.
Parnassus where the Oracle is protected by Delphyne, the mother of
all dragons and beasts. Assembling a group of willing patrons,
Romasanta leads them to Delphi, Greece where they will cross into a
realm void of technology. Only brute strength and magic reign in a
place where packs of Mimick dogs, Wyverns and Jaculus still run wild.
Meanwhile, back home Lillith takes on a mysterious curse cast on Tony
who will have to make a life changing choice. The question weighing
on all their minds is if two werewolves, the Incubus King, and a
demonized sorceress will live to fight their way into Gaea’s Gate
to enter the Otherworld?

Closing her eyes, the conversation between Cedric and Tony was no longer

audible to her ears. She allowed herself to remember the horrific events,

something she still fought over whether it was a good or bad to urge herself to

recall any of it. Her mind stretched back to the beginning of her torment. It

wasn’t her time with Cedric that had rotted her soul, but one twist in fate she had

failed to see coming. The frightening turning point wasn’t the fight where Cedric

defeated Boto and became the new King Incubus, but the appearance of Merlin.

At first glance, he seemed like nothing more than a bald old man with a long

white beard. A few layers of long-sleeved tan robes and a rope belt with a satchel

added to his sage-like appearance. Powerful and wise, yet the sensation of good

judgment faded in an instant. He had placed the Amulet of Avalon, the Eye of

Gaea, into one of his sleeves after snatching it from Morrighan when he turned

to address them. Cedric was still in his incubine form. Horns black and curled

like a rams at the sides of his skull. Glaring at the wizard, he clenched his fangs

tight with contempt. Hands and feet were clawed and massive, while he was

three times larger in overall bulk and muscle in this form. A smooth thin tail

swished with anger and his massive bat-like wings adorned with two fingers at

the main fold were still held high in alarm.

All I could do was stand there covered in my own sweat and tears.

Everything crimson, blood painting my body from war waging all around me. I

remember how my nostrils stung with the iron smell from it all. Red rivulets

raced down Cedric’s side where Boto’s first strike had torn through his flesh. The

world slowed. I watched drops fall to the black marble floor with a tick-tock like

the ticking of a Doomsday clock, splattering at Cedric’s feet like rose petals

breaking apart, scattering from a hard fall. My chest ached and fear clawed at

me to think he could feel that emotion within me.

Cedric had slain Boto only minutes before, claiming the title of King Incubus

for himself. Angeline witnessed the harsh reality of a bond breaking, the outburst

of magic’s harsh whiplash rattling through Morrighan. The amount of pain

ripping through the souls of Boto and Morrighan was unmistakable and neverending.

Her breath caught in her throat as Cedric’s fear slammed into her and she

mirrored back her own. This could be them someday. She tried to voice her

concern, wanting to ask if this is what he would face due to her own mortality,

but his green glare silenced her. The wave of dread retreated back into him,

letting her know it was not her place to worry. She was a human bound to a

demon, married to Lord Cedric du Romulus the Demonic Knight. In this world,

she had no right to voice her thoughts. The world of humans was the extent of

her knowledge, while his world was a cruel place somewhere between demons

and gods.

But now, I have no knowledge of any world… no place to belong…

Morrighan had fallen victim to the recoil of her sins. Years of curses had

been waiting for an opening to exact their revenge for her abuse of necromancy

and other black arts against magical beings and creatures. Taking the stone away

was like stripping her of her shield and armor. She had been left naked and

exposed to Gaea’s Law and the lashing for hurting children of Gaea; those who

were made by her, descended from her or carried her magic within them.

Morrighan’s punishment unfolded at incredible speed and she took on a

gruesome and beastly appearance. Spending decades, possibly centuries making

chimeras had made her into one as well. She fell, passing out across Boto’s

lifeless body, exhausted from the sudden physical change. Cedric and Merlin had

stripped Morrighan of everything she’d held valuable in her life.

Merlin had materialized before them, his power resonating through the air.

He continued his casual conversation with Cedric while eyeing her at every

chance. Goosebumps prickled across her skin and she involuntarily held her

breath, hoping it would make her less visible.

You see, I have been digging through a century’s worth of time trying to

find this particular bloodline, but I see you have spoiled it with your own blood.”

The eyes of the wizard were growing brighter, bluer even as he scowled. His

tone of voice towards Cedric was as if he were a child who broke an expensive

vase. “This is going to delay my work. I will have to find a way to undo the

damage you have done to her witch’s blood. I despise demons and the work they

do on the human body. Worse off, you have gone as far as binding yourself to

her, it’s degrading.”

Cedric’s wings flared out in response of the wizard making it known

Angeline was his target. Her heart had been pounding, leaving her chest aching.

Anger waved out of Cedric, the heat of it physically flowing from him. She

could feel the scorching fire of his ire and his muscles tightened as if they were

her own.

Don’t touch her.” Fear shook her core at the sound of Cedric’s growl, a deep

demonic tone pouring from him.

Her thoughts tightened their hold on her. ‘Am I afraid of Cedric or the

wizard?’

You will not take her!” Cedric roared.

Ah, but I will, demons are such poor thinkers, tsk.” A smile crawled across

the old man’s face.

Angeline stood, watching it unfold. ‘No, not Cedric, but the wizard has every

part of me shaking with fear. Those glowing eyes… he will leave here with me…

I can feel it…’

She will be making her new home on Avalon, without you, of course.”

Scoffing, he continued to patronize Cedric. “It never shocks me to see how

easily demons fall for humans. The wolf never sleeps with the sheep for a

reason.”

Cedric snarled, “What do you want from her?”

I can’t run, he’ll get me.’ Looking down she saw her enchanted bow and a

sparkle of hope fluttered in her heart. ‘But if I can land a hit with Wylleam’s bow,

I can’t help but wonder if its magic might allow us to run.’

Her magic is dormant, there is nothing you can get from her.” It was more

of a plea coming from Cedric.

Ah, but you see, I have been pulling such deep magic into my own blood to

gain immortality. With the ancient line she holds, I will be able to achieve this as

well as the power to clean the rest of the demon powerhouses off this earth. I

will become supreme ruler of mankind, not Beelzebub, or any creature of such

spoiled lineage.” As Merlin continued his rant with Cedric, she gripped the wood

of her bow tight, sweat rolling down her cheek. “Feh, but unfortunately, I got

here far too late and will now have to cleanse her of your filth and try not to kill

her in the process. Bindings and transformations are difficult filths you hellish

dogs have plagued mankind with.”

She froze. The wizard took a step towards Cedric, sending him into a charge.

Her stomach knotted as she watched the distance between them grow until she

was out of Cedric’s reach.

NO! He’ll get me! I know it! I can sense it! CEDRIC COME BACK!’ If only

he could hear her thoughts!

paranormal, fantasy, romance or action adventure. The characters are
flawed in mental and emotional ways while being amazing powerful
creatures, demons, witches and Gods. Many of the monsters presented
in battle derive from Medieval Bestiaries and adds a fun flavor of
new yet deeply rooted assortment of creatures such as Coin Iotair,
Shag Foal, Cynocephali, and many more.

those teenagers getting ready to step out in the world on their own.
Hotan is a failed reincarnation and is becoming immortal against his
will. Life is complicated and often we withdraw within ourselves,
shut others out when life becomes hard. As the story unfolds we
learn the importance of opening up and asking for support in all its
forms to the people in our lives even beyond friends and family. Each
immortal controls amazing powers of Nature, like fire, or elements of
Humanity, such as fear.

With a prank online video, Leah hopes to catch the attention of Jake Colton, a cute, blond-haired, blue-eyed co-worker she’s had a crush on for months. But instead of sending it to Jake, she manages to forward the clip to her boss—who buys every gory second.
When mass panic ensues, Leah learns the video is more than a staged act…
The government is calling the virus AM13. As the outbreak spreads, citizens are forced to stay indoors while they assess the gravity of the illness. Most people are quarantined in their homes, but Leah, Jake, and Leah’s best friend Michelle are some of the unlucky few who are stuck at work when the Lockdown occurs.
That’s where she first encounters one of the infected…
Aside from a contaminated woman devouring one of her co-workers, Leah has another problem. Does she do as she’s ordered and stay at work? Or should she disobey government orders and break free to reunite with her family?
She can’t go it alone—after all, Leah has none of the skills needed to survive—but with Michelle and Jake by her side, not even a contagious virus and a sea of the dead can keep her from…
Breaking out of the Lockdown…

Kara’s chest heaved and her breaths got shorter. The room she found herself in was pitch black and eerily quiet. She tentatively took a step forward, wincing at the echo of each movement. She blinked rapidly, trying to work out what she was supposed to do, but nothing immediately came to mind.

“Hello?” she whispered, unsure of how loud she should talk.

She was answered by a resounding silence. Certain she was alone, she continued moving with more confidence.

She ran her fingers along the ice-cold wall, trying to find an exit. The dark was disconcerting and, to be honest, creeping her out a bit. She much preferred being able to see what she was doing.

Suddenly, her fingers stumbled across a steely metal. Kara jumped back, panicking for some unknown reason. When nothing happened, she continued to move her hand along—what was becoming obvious—a chain. As much as she was confused by this, she was also curious, excited almost. Her lips started to tremble, but this time because she was sure she was about to be free of this constricting blackness.

A noise reverberated off the walls and Kara span around, hands in front of her face. This action was completely pointless of course, she still couldn’t see anything. As her heart rate slowed down, she started to think she had just invented the noise. That or someone was just trying to mess with her. Her palms were sweating as she fumbled frantically with the chain, shaking and pulling it, no longer caring how loud she was. She just needed this nightmare to be over.

She gave up tugging, tears threatening to spill out, and simply started screaming for help. Her panic levels had reached hysteria and she felt like nothing was going to shake her out of it. She shouted louder and with more determination. Why was everyone ignoring her, God damn it? She was absolutely sure someone could come and help her if they really wanted to.

A growl emanated, so low it could have been in Kara’s imagination. The overwhelming stench of rot that accompanied it stunned her into silence. She couldn’t even breathe. It suddenly became very obvious to her what was happening, and even though terror filled her entire being, she didn’t move, cry, or even really feel. She was just numb and frozen.

The chains started rattling and Kara let out a whimper. She suddenly realised what she had been messing with only moments before, how could she have been so stupid? She staggered backwards, the knowledge that she would only hit stone wall doing nothing to stop her. Her body was just reacting in a natural way, trying to escape danger, even if there was no real option left for her. Her legs felt heavy and her lungs tight. What now?

She slumped to the floor, her back to the wall, not even noticing the cold anymore. Her mind was racing, trying to come up with a solution. She had a little experience in this area of course, but to be honest, up until this point she had been really lucky. Why had she thought this was something she could do?

The circular design of the room meant she had no idea where any of the sounds were coming from; there was just no way of telling. Even though her body had well and truly given up this fight, resigned to its inevitable end, her mind was screaming at her, begging her to fight back. She started whispering to herself, the first sign of madness coming through thick and strong, telling herself there was no point, there was nothing she could do anyway.

Suddenly a drip of pus fell onto her bare shoulder. Kara screeched and cowered away, crawling at the speed of light across the floor, knocking into her attacker’s legs on the way. She knew she was quicker, of course, that was common knowledge, but she also knew there was only so long she could avoid it. She would get tired long before that bastard would. Many people had been taken out using that tactic.

The growling and movement became more frequent as if realising she was definitely there had set a firework up her assailant’s backside and now it was honing in on its opponent. She stood up, fists flailing in all directions. She knew hand-to-hand combat wasn’t exactly ideal, but she just needed to buy herself some time. There had to be something in this Godforsaken room she could fight with, that was the point, wasn’t it? She wished her eyes would adjust to the dark, but it was so black in here, she had no hope of that.

Her toe smacked violently into something wooden on the floor. Kara screamed out in pain and started hopping around. How was it possible to stub your toe in a circular room?

That was it!

She suddenly remembered them saying there was always something you could use to defend yourself, however difficult the situation. She bent down and wrapped her hands around the cylindrical piece of wood, a newfound hope filling her heart.

Okay, so it wasn’t exactly a gun or a machete, but at least she was no longer completely helpless. She swung the wood aimlessly, a smile playing on her lips. She was going to get out of this mess alive, whatever the cost.

Finally, she connected. The squelching sound and splat across her face, of what she could only assume was blood, confirmed this much. The thing grunted as she swung repeatedly, determined to finish this off quickly.

Suddenly, a glaring white light filled the room and she was momentarily blinded. Kara span around, confident of her achievement. She waved the stick above her head, imagining cheers from an invented audience. She stepped towards the light, wondering what her future held…

Take two defense attorneys, add one troubled NFL QB who needs them, and what do you get? A threesome of hot, sexy conflict.

Gryff Ward made a serious mistake when he hired the hot-as-hell defense attorney Rayne Jordan as an associate in his high-profile legal firm, even though she’s one of the best. Now he’s struggling to keep it professional, especially when she insists on calling him “Boss.”

Rayne’s been attracted to the firm’s top attorney ever since her interview. And she’s well aware that calling the conservative man “Boss” drives him crazy…in a very good way.

Add Trey Holloway, their newest client, a troubled NFL quarterback, into the mix. Tension arises when it’s clear that both Gryff and Trey want Rayne and Gryff is willing to fight for her. However, Trey doesn’t hide the fact that he wants Gryff too.
Now Gryff’s having a hard time fighting not only his attraction to Rayne but to another man. Even though he stubbornly refuses to admit his deepest, darkest desires.

Then Rayne takes control. She’s determined to have them both in not only her bed but her life, and she won’t give up until she does.

Note: This book in the series can be read as standalone. It includes an HEA ending. It is intended for audiences over 18 years of age since it includes explicit sexual scenes between all three characters.

Rayne’s eyes slid sideways to the man in her passenger seat. No doubt he was feeling good. She then peeked in her rearview mirror. And so was the one in the back.

The later the evening became, the looser the men became. Not that Trey needed any help, but Gryff? Yeah, he needed the booze to get the stick out of his ass and contemplate Trey’s suggestion of the three of them hooking up.

Amazingly enough, Trey had talked them into going back to his place. It surprised her when Gryff agreed. Still, she had no idea where things would go from there.

But whatever happened tonight, she was all in. How could she not be? Two handsome, hot, successful men. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t say no. Of course not.

The only issue looming? Gryff was her boss and Trey her client. That may be not only an issue, but a big one. And possibly the fact that she was the only one a hundred percent sober. Not that either of the men were sloppy or falling down drunk, but they both seemed loose and happy. Besides, it was nice to see Gryff like that. The more he smiled and laughed, the more Rayne couldn’t help but fall for him.

Which, again, reminded her of the not-so-small matter of him being her boss. Damn.

He didn’t stick his dick in company ink.

No, that wasn’t right.

He didn’t stick his pen in company pussy.

Nope. Not right either.

Well, either way, it was too late. His cock had been inside her and they both had liked it. Really liked it. Once wasn’t enough for her. And from what she could tell, not enough for him either.

When sifting through the fiery ashes, signs begin to appear, giving her the feeling that the accident was less of an accident and more of foul play. While Sarah struggles to understand the images haunting her dreams, she finds herself losing a grip on reality.

Horses were one of my first loves, and writing soon followed. As a child, I spent hours writing poems, and short stories (about horses). My parents realized that I was horse-obsessed and decided to buy me one after taking riding lessons for two years. I think they hoped that all of the hard work, and hours spent mucking stalls would help me give up this expensive hobby. They were wrong. Writing is still a passion of mine, although now I primarily write fiction. My first novel, Red Rock, was published in 2010, and big surprise, there are horses in it. My second novel, The Three Month Plan was released August 2013.
Other Loves: My family, yoga, skincare and makeup, sushi, and raising money for pediatric cancer. I have two rescue dogs and would have more if there weren’t zoning restrictions. I’m always trying something new, as I tend to get bored very easily. Thankfully, my love of driving around with the gas light on fuels some excitement. I love novels with happy endings, and am a hopeful romantic. My latest obsession is browsing Netflix, and I can name all 50 states in alphabetical order in under 30 seconds. Do I feel a wager coming on?

Who do you trust when betrayal threatens to destroy everything you hold dear?

When Arionna Jacobs fled town in a desperate bid to save Dace Matthews, she never expected the chaos she would leave in her wake. Now her closest friend is dead, and another is missing, forcing Ari to return to face the devastating consequences of her actions and the broken boy she left behind.

Her problems are only just beginning.

Even as her bond with Dace grows stronger, Arionna finds herself weakening when Freki’s cage shatters. Fighting the wolf for control is tearing her apart piece by piece. And at every turn, she finds that those she’s put her faith in aren’t who they seem, bringing her face to face with Sköll and Hati. As the depth of their betrayal is revealed, Freki spirals out of control, and Arionna must face her greatest fear: losing herself to the fierce wolf within.

The world balances on the edge of a blade, and one wrong move will destroy it all.

With few allies she can trust and little choice left, Arionna must decide between the lives of her friends and her own future with the alpha she loves. Will she be able to stand firm for the sake of the world, or will she falter in the face of defeat?

“Arionna, dammit, wake up.”

Unseen hands gripped my upper arms, shaking me. A familiar voice called my name over and over. Furious howls ripped through the air.

None of those sounds made sense to me.

I felt different, like I’d been taken apart and put back together in the wrong order. Everything hurt. My body ached, muscles locked tight in protest. My head throbbed. Each painful pulse rattled against my skull, sending ripples down my neck and into my back.

I groaned and rolled onto my side.

The hands shaking me relaxed.

I fought to open my eyes, then blinked, confused. Worn brown carpet scratched against the side of my face. The bottom edge of a pale blue bed-sham fluttered inches from me. Dust bunnies and small pieces of plastic were strewn beneath the sagging bed. A table and two chairs were grouped on the other side. A crack ran up the leg of one chair, splitting the wood.

None of the room looked familiar.

Where am I?

The voice calling my name stopped mid-shout and sighed.

Oh, thank god, he said.

For what? I wondered, marveling that the words came from inside my mind, but didn’t belong to me. How was that possible?

I couldn’t place the soft, silky tones either, but they made my stomach flip and my heart flutter. I knew the speaker. At least I thought I did. Before I could ask him who he was or how he spoke in my head, someone blew out a sharp breath. This time, the sound didn’t come from inside.

“Finally,” that second voice said.

Nope. Definitely not coming from my mind.

I rolled my eyes toward the relieved sound, and then frowned at the guy leaning over me. Long, dark hair hung in his face. His eyes were black, and full of concern. His features were sharp, severe, but handsome.

This time I was certain; I knew this guy.

“Ronan,” I said. His name was Ronan LaCrosse, and mine was… Arionna. Yes, Arionna Jacobs. Memory began to slowly trickle back in. We were at a motel in Illinois, looking for someone. And the howls were coming from Fuki, the little wolf we’d brought with us, though I couldn’t see him.

Where was he?

I tried to figure out why I was on the floor, but came up with a big blank.

“What happened?” I asked, looking up at Ronan.

He held out a hand for me, then pulled me into a sitting position.

The room tilted before straightening again. I clutched my head in my hands, groaning. When the initial wave of nausea passed, I tilted my head up slowly so I could see Ronan. “Did I hit my head?” I asked, trying to blink away the dark spots floating in my peripheral.

“You don’t remember?” He narrowed his eyes, tilting his head to the side like a raven assessing me.

I scooted back against the edge of the bed, frowning.

What was I supposed to remember?

What begins as a routine missing person case for Seattle’s best private investigator, Dick Hunter, turns into a personal vendetta against a cruel murderer. The murderer, Mort des Hommes, happens to be a hell spawn possessing powerful magic.

In order to solve the case and avenge a death, Dick Hunter has to take a crash course in magic from the angelic Amie, and gather magical animal familiars in order to battle and defeat Mort des Hommes.

When I recall what I saw that day, I can scarce but wonder why I didn’t go insane. On the ground was the body of Mr. Hollis, bloody and torn but still barely alive and breathing. He was twitching on the grass like a chopped up inchworm. One arm was detached from the rest of his body, the hand clinched into a fist. Dangling freely from his torso was his intestines, pulled out from a huge gash in his lower stomach area. Blood flowed freely from many wounds. Blood splattered Mr. Hollis’ face, too; and by the looks of things, it was his own blood at that.
There was a man looming menacing over his tortured body: a white gentleman about a decade into AARP membership, slim and in good shape, with cold blue eyes and a tuft of white hair sticking out from under his smoke gray derby hat. He’s wearing a black suit with a white shirt and simple black tie, a long gray wool coat over his suit. He held a spear in his right arm, the tip of it pointed at Mr. Hollis’ forehead.
I couldn’t simply stand and watch the murder of a man without attempting to stop it, so I pulled out my sidearm and aimed it at the old man that looked like a reject from The Godfather movies. “Drop the spear!” I ordered.
The old man looked at me as if he hadn’t noticed that I was there beforehand. A sinister and arrogant smile formed across his pale face. He spread open his arms as he faced me—he was daring me to shoot him!
I wasn’t going to shoot him as long as he didn’t threaten me. I was hoping he wouldn’t, because that would be a heck of a lot of paperwork to fill out at the police station. I was hoping that he would let go of the weapon he borrowed from Fred Flintstone and allow me to apprehend him and call the police. But, of course, life’s never that easy, right?
The old fart turns and aims the spear at me, putting me in a tight situation. I have the more deadly weapon, so if I shoot and kill this old man, it might appear to be an act of abusing my gun privileges. If I don’t shoot, I’ll end up with a spear through my neck. I did the only logical thing I could do: I shot the old man in his shoulder.
The first shot seemed to do nothing to the old man. I had excellent aim, and I was close enough to the target that even if my aim sucked balls I still would’ve hit him. But there was nothing on the old man, not even a scratch.
I fired three more times, all with the same results as the first. It was as if the bullets, as they drew closer to him, ceased existing.
That’s when the old man gazed at me with his wicked smile, and, not even looking at his victim on the ground, rammed his spear through Mr. Hollis’ temple. He removed the spear with a jerk. Brain chunks and blood splattering everywhere. He winked at me and slowly turned to walk away. I fired two more rounds, without hitting him, until the old man vanished. That’s right; he vanished, like a specter or hologram.
My mind was having trouble making sense of the nonsense that just transpired. One thing I did know was that Benny-boy wasn’t in such good shape. I had to be quick. I dashed to the body and dropped to my knees. I stared at the corpse.
I shook my head at the dead body and whispered, “Why did you die? What did you die for, man?” I sighed and then walked over to where his arm lay. I lifted it up to rejoin it with his body. As I did so, a pebble and a pack of matches fell from his grasp. I placed the arm across his chest and retrieved the fallen pebble and matches. The matches were from some place called Amie’s House of Spirits; I placed both items in my coat pocket. That’s when I heard the police sirens and decided to disappear from the scene of the crime before I spent the rest of the night answering questions at the precinct.

Detective Dick Hunter is back!

Dick and comrades defeated Wicked Jinn Mort des Hommes in a climatic battle at the Gates of Hades. Though stopped of his ultimate goal of world domination, Mort was able to release twelve demons into the world–and Dick Hunter blames himself.
To put an end to the demonic threat, Dick Hunter and Amie–a former Pleasant Jinn and

Dick’s current lover–accompany an old friend, Pleasant Jinn Guy, across the country on a demon hunting spree. More action, adventure and wisecracks await in the next installment in the genre-bending, fourth-wall-breaking Detecting Magic with Dick Hunter series.

The talking pigeon was really an Aura elemental familiar under contract with Guy. There are six types of elementals, and they often times work with Jinn–Pleasant and Wicked–to help them complete missions. They’re needed in order to weaken or seal Jinn. Well, from my experience, they were necessary as distractions, so to speak. Just another body for the enemy to fight while the human of the group attempts to seal or weaken the Jinn.
I could go on about elementals and sealing Jinn and shit, but I already covered that enough in the previous book. You guys should go check that out if you hadn’t already.
But the main thing was that this filthy little pigeon had some valuable information. Apparently, there’s a new designer drug that hit the streets of Baltimore called sublime. It’s a pill people ingest. According to the Aura, sublime alters the body, I think something to do with dumping extra adrenaline into the blood, and the blimer (the person who’s popping sublime–seriously, I couldn’t make this shit up even if I tried) gets the strength of Superman, able to lift cars and shit. And they get hungry. Blimers get a strange craving for human flesh, and they have the strength to bite off large chunks with their teeth. Not pretty.
So yeah, that’s really a fucked up situation in Charm City. NARCs were up to their chests in cases, the police commissioner and mayor were under scrutiny, and folks were dying by the scores–getting eaten alive. Often by their buddy they just popped sublime with. There were hunger houses–basically crack houses for blimers–all over the city, thanks to about 1,500 or so blighted and condemned houses. Once uncovered, they’d be two or three or more half and fully devoured bodies found in them. Disturbing shit.
Before he left for Seattle, Guy had felt the presence of two demons in Baltimore. However, he didn’t have an agitator or a Thanos Stone or even the humans to wield them. Which was why he told his Aura to keep tabs on things in Tubman City while he went to gather Amie and I from the west coast. I wished he had said something earlier. Jinn and their goddamn secrets.
Guy definitely thought it was the Addiction demon that was spreading around sublime. Only a demon could manufacture a drug with an agent that could alter human physiology as drastically as sublime did, or so said Guy. Amie agreed with him. I just kept quiet, looking pretty, because I had no idea what they were talking about.
Anyway, the next day Guy’s Aura returned with more news for us . . .

“Guy, Guy,” squawks the Aura. “I overheard this from one of the dealers. There is a big shipment of sublime coming tonight at the docks. Taj, the biggest sublime supplier in the city, is always there during a shipment.”
Guy nods and throws a handful of bread crumbs at it. “Merci. You have done well. Time for rest, non?”
The pigeon mumbles, “Thank you,” as it eagerly pecks at the crumbs.
Guy joins Amie and me at the kitchen table. “You suspect this Taj guy is really Addiction?” I say.
“Oui. And if he is not, the real demon will most likely be the one dropping off the large shipment.”
“I wonder why all the subterfuge,” I say. “If the demon is manufacturing sublime, why go through all the trouble of having it shipped in?”
Guy shrugs. Amie says, “That’s a good question. Maybe the shipment is only the materials needed to manufacture sublime.”
Eh, that’s a sickening thought. I remember the ingredients Mort used to make his hellhound canines. I’m sure what the demon uses to make sublime is nasty, and possibly human.
“Well, there’s only one way to find out.”
Guy laughs and shakes his head at me. Then he gets up from the table. “I am going to pray and cleanse myself for tonight.”
Amie gets up too. “I’m going to mediate.”
They both walk out of the kitchen, leaving me alone with a damn pigeon.

I had a couple of hours to kill, so I decided to go out for a walk. The city seemed, I don’t know, nicer since the last time I visited. The area was relatively clean for a city with over half a million people. I didn’t know where I was going, so I just kept walking. Somehow my feet led me to a bar.
I went in, sat at the counter, and ordered a whiskey on the rocks. An Orioles game played on a big flat screen TV behind the bar. I sipped my drink and got lost in the strikes and balls.
I admit, I was a bit put off how Amie just left me right after Guy got up. Was I jealous? Slightly. But those two knew things I didn’t. They both have lived hundreds of years. One was a Jinn possessing unbelievable magic, the other was formerly a Jinn. I was the odd man out in this threesome; I was the third wheel.
Into my fourth drink I realized alcohol wasn’t going to change any of that. Wasn’t going to help it any, either. I paid my tab and then shuffled on back to Guy’s apartment.
