Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser:
The Stone Angel by Margaret Lawrence
Page 12
“The Simmons family lived above the Funeral Parlor. Billy Simmons wasn’t anything to worry over, but Telford’s mamma was a pinch-face parsimonious shrew who would stand on the doorstep and hand Telford a cookie after school, but never had one to spar for any other child, and Telford, mortified, would chew dryly on it under her waiting eye.”
I chose this because it reminds me that I adore Margaret Lawrence for just that: her ability to explain a situation beautifully! I can just see Telford’s mamma, all pinch faced and looking disapprovingly at the other children.
The Rivals of Versailles by Sally Christie
This is an ebook and this quote is at the 24% point:
Reproach is like lye to love, wearing it thin, my mother used to say. I repeat her words in my cold bed.

What a beautiful and yet sad quote.

Very vivid teaser. My teaser this week comes from Dragon’s Fire by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey. I’m trying to finish this series by reading the books I missed when they were new. Happy reading!

Haven’t come across that author or book but it’s definitely an interesting teaser that makes you want to read more.

Margaret Lawrence is a Canadian author and a very good one at that. My mother encouraged me to read Margaret Lawrence when I was a teen. My favourite book is the Diviners. I hope I can find it in my pile of books!

Think I have heard of the Diviners. Will need to look out for some of her books.
